Science communication isn’t just about breaking complex topics down, it’s also finding the right tools to make them stick. In this session, you’ll explore ways to spark clarity and curiosity, connecting science to people, systems, and decisions. We'll be using geology as a jumping-off point, a field full of unexpected drama, from buried treasure, space travel, and even…. Frankenstein’s Monster?? Yet the stories are often buried under the fog of dense language and overwhelming data. Wren draws from her experience as both a geologist and a communicator, shaped by her realization that how information is shared can matter just as much as the science itself. Motivated by how easily science can feel distant or confusing (even with her own family), she approaches communication with the goal of finding clarity and intention in every explanation. With a good story, some everyday context, and a dash of plain language, even the most intimidating science can be relevant and memorable. Science isn't scary, it just needs a better publicist.
